Free Online Games – If It’s Free, Give it to Me
I love video games. Who doesn’t? They can make us think, relax us, force us to exercise (we all need it), and best of all entertain us. Thankfully, the people who made our computers realized we would need entertainment from it and provided us with solitaire, minesweeper, pinball, and FreeCell. Four free games that could entertain us for hours.Unfortunately, their time is up. The times have changed, we have grown weary of our free computer games; they bore us. We need something more. Luckily, the internet has come to the rescue. There are so many free online games, I am not sure where to begin. The first online game I encountered was something called Kung-Fu Chess. A buddy introduced me when he found out I enjoyed chess; he told me it wasn’t like chess, it was better. I was skeptical at first, but I happily went to test it out.It was unreal to me! An applet of Javascript the game had the chess pieces moving all at once, with a set time before they could move again! Before you start thinking I’m a loon, let me mention it was multiplayer and you were in competition with someone you may not even know. It was fantastic and I played for hours. Shortly thereafter a tiled-letter word-making game was released entitled Word ‘Em Up. I played this particular game even more, recording thousands of sessions, and many, many hours. And with that, my descent (or ascent, depending how you look at it) into free online games had completed, I was a slave to them (willingly of course).Nowadays, most free online games are made using Flash animation. And there are tons of them. Just from memory I can recall miniature golf games, castle defending games, wardrobe-changing games, board games, famous board games, crosswords, word searches, even adaptations of major games from our personal consoles. The limits seem to be endless and I’m glad they are. Even as a youth I could only take playing solitaire for so long, and now that I work behind a computer I can’t stand to look at the program. I shouldn’t have to mention the other games more than letting you know I would consider myself a guru in all of them. But, for the die-hards out there, I can almost be certain there are new found free online games focusing on your beloved solitaire, or minesweeper, or even FreeCell. You won’t catch me trying to look for them though!
